Mtp Driver Cracked Rib
Posted By admin On 02.02.20Meh myself to blame on this one. These days I like to do early morning airport runs if I drive at all. So I pick up these two college aged girls from a hotel that are giving me an attitude before they even get in. I just brush it off because it's early and this is how some college kids act to everyone. No problem.I usually won't pick up bags but I always go back there to close my trunk so they don't break it. One bag was a little fat so I went to use all 115 lbs of my body to close it and wouldn't you know the car bounced up as I was coming down and the edge caught me right under the underwire of my bra which made the impact way worse.Just another day at a ride service. Drove for 3 hours then had to quit.
This was Sunday. I broke a rib in a car accident so o know what one feels like. Haven't been able to wear a real bra, caught get is fun and every time I roll over in my sleep it hurts like hell because my breast sits on top of the rib.Honestly I'm not complaining. I know every time I drive I'm opening myself up to the risk of something way worse.

I have long term and short term disability insurance that I buy from my real job but it still only covers half of my income.I read a post about the Iber driver getting jumped by three men and just decided to share my most recent misadventure.I think as drivers that have been around the block a time or two it is the least we can do for brand new drivers. I know it won't keep them from driving but it will prepare them for what the risks are.I also had a man I picked up in the middle of no where that same day who spoke pretty much no English but was using the English he had to try and hit on me. We were out in the toll roads and he was making me feel unsafe. When I finally got him home he tried to get me to get out of the car with him. Then he wouldn't get out saying you come upstairs. Then he complained the best he could about the $16 fare. It should have actually been $33 but he had a half off promotion.
He grabbed my arm in an inappropriate way. I knew before we even left the gas station I picked him up at in the rural area that he was trouble. I'm sure it resulted in a 4 star or lower rating for professionalism.:confused:I always laugh at the professionalism flag. I only got a comment on this once but it's like dude if I were a professional driver I'd actually be getting paid. I started driving for fun,Public service keeping responsible drunks off the street and for a little side money. Side money adds to the fun. There's nothing professional about it. It's the best, I only do it three days a week but each time I'm thanked and 9/10 it's not pax that are high, always airport runs and NO Traffic, only way to do this that makes sense and not only that I actually enjoy it.as strange as that sounds it is fun for me.

Allendale airport runs have been best so far for me, I stage in Hyde park and the clientele just works.although I will get campus pings and motel 6 pings on 35 on occasion.the drake song 'on a Tuesday' seems to of created a trend because I get hardcore partiers wanting to go home at 4:30am every Wednesday.Mon and Fri are great days though.60 bucks a shift.most days except the occasional dull Wednesday I'll take it for now, and that's lyft only. Work Comp is not an option but just in case something similar happens to someone else it may be worth noting that sometimes you can get the GL to pay out for bodily injury to subs/ temporary workers. The way the standard GL policy is written the definition of an employee doesn't include temporary workers and therefore injury to certain types of subs or employees isn't always excluded. In my case however because I was injured loading/ unloading my injury is excluded under the auto exclusion part of the GL.Anyway though when in doubt always file a claim if the injury is debilitating enough to make it worth the effort. James River Ins is what is known as a surplus insurance carrier which means they aren't regulated by the state and they can make up whatever policy exclusions they want.
I do business with them though and the one thing carriers like this pretty much will straight up refuse to pay damages on is injury to subs. It's a work comp claim and he GL isn't prices adequately to absorb that kind of exposure.
